It is slotted in between two beautiful rivers namely, Mahananda and Tangon. The distance of Aiho from English Bazaar, the district headquarter of Malda is 13.9 kms; and 265 kms from Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal.

The boat passengers called themselves Rahi which means passenger. They used to call out their fellow passengers uttering the word “Ahio” to go on board the boats. Aiho is the local variation of the word “Ahio”.
